the salty smell of the ocean in the breeze , the sound of behemoth waves driven by the incoming storm, the roiling sea that disappears into the vast black sky; the beach at night is absolutely precious! for that short while you're standing there, feet planted into the sand as waves beat against your legs, there's this odd calm that liberates you. and humbles you. your problems get washed away into oblivion. you are nothing but a tiny speck next to the abyssal depths of the sea, your troubles even tinier.
events of last night were unexpected. but surprisingly amusing. i was reminded of a time when things were simple and transparent. just the three of us...
i've been listening to this 3 days straight now. mad mad song!! i like the travis barker's remix more than the original and you'll see why if you give it a listen. seriously, he looks fucken mental drumming but that's passion right there! i love how he crosses his hands when he goes for the crash cymbals instead of just using his right hand. one of the best remixes i've heard in recent times. the whole song in its entirety is sick but eminem kills it hands down. he sounds amazing in his verse. it's still got a couple more hundred listens in it before i get bored of it. till then, imma hit replay over and over again!
with all this new moon hype that's taken over the twihards, i have one thing i'd like to remind the sane people out there:
by all means, watch the movie though. i'm against passing judgment on a film before actually giving it a chance. so who knows, this might actually turn out to be awesome or something. but just remember - a sparkly piece of poo is still a piece of poo.
also, if you're after good vampire stuff, get on the true blood wagon. much better!
one fine spring morning, some many weeks ago, flo and i decided to head into the city for a girls' day out. while walking around feasting our eyes on the new spring/summer merchandise, some pretty summer dresses at the front of jay jays beckoned us into the store. one particular purple-pink tonal tube dress with black floral patterns creeping from the hem up looked so damn familiar, but i couldn't place it then. it was tres cute (totally my colour scheme) but the cut made me look frumpy so i gave it a miss. ended up buying a white halter beach dress with pretty bright flowers instead.
then two nights ago, i was looking through some of alexander mcqueen's old collections and BAM! there it was, in his 2008 spring summer collection! behold, dress on the left:
it looked exactly like this, except instead of butterflies it was flowers and it was knee length and not a maxi. but still, the resemblance was striking. and i totally had a devil wears prada moment, that also came up several times in that fashion course i did. this is a fine example of the reference miranda priestly makes about cerulean when she lectures andy. what you see on the runway eventually gets filtered down to chains like jay jays and the likes. and then it is picked up by the average end user like you and me, completely unaware that some big people in the fashion industry pretty much decided on what we're about to wear.
also, note how this dress was from mcqueen's 2008 collection. fashion seriously arrives late in aussie. i guess better late than never right?
